THE VINEYaRDS, OLIVE GROVES AND WOODLAND OF THE VILLA BARBARINO ESTATE OWNED BY THE NUNZI CONTI FAMILY LIE IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL parts OF THE CHIANTI CLASSICO FIORENTINO area

Tenuta villa Barberino is located in an area that, thanks to the mild and sunny climate, has been used for viticulture for many centuries. The estate covers 80 hectares including 27 hectares of vineyards and 12 hectares of olive groves.

Here the flourishing nature provides a home for a rich variety of flora and fauna. As the label of our Chianti Classico Nunzi Conti shows, meandering through this area, you are likely to come across some of the local animals such as goats, wild boar, pheasants and hares.

The richness of the area has allowed our family, which has been involved in winemaking for generations, to cultivate vines of extraordinary variety and age. In our vineyards, some with vines that are over 30 years old, we have mainly local grapes including Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo as well as a small proportion of international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Research and experimentation in the cellars, that together house over 80 barrels and 19 stainless steel vats with a total capacity of around 1500 hectolitres, is carried out with passion and commitment. The stainless steel vats are equipped with cutting edge technology that allows temperature to be controlled throughout the fermentation process.

Renovation work was carried out on the estate and the original buildings have been restored to their former glory providing ample space for the cellars. The vinification cellars are located in a beautiful 18th century converted hay barn whilst the barriques are stored in the old cellars dating back to the 1400s.

Visitors to the estate are welcome to taste our wines in the evocative tasting room surrounded by barriques that silently work their magic on our aging wines.
